Our Love Story
How We Met
We met at work over ten years ago. Living opposite each other, we started a car share and quickly became part of each other’s routines. Social events started happening with Neil and his boys: Eurovision, game nights, and culinary experiments. Nikki would often stop by Neil’s when out on a walk with a friend, tempted in by whatever delicious experiment he was dabbling with.
Then, one steak night, their fate was sealed with a gift of Halloween earrings and a kiss. A couple of years later, Nikki moved in and slowly but not so secretly brought bright colours, some mess, and the Spice Girls into the house. Evenings were spent listening to music, watching serial killer documentaries, and enjoying Neil cooking amazing new meals every night.
They always talked about starting a print business together, and now they both work full time together, feeling very lucky and only rarely wanting to kill each other.
The Proposal
There has been lots of ribbing from everyone over the years about there being no engagement yet… But if you’ve ever had dinner at our house, you’ll know these things don’t come quickly!
And as you may know, to the amusement of many, they get out of the country a lot: Greek islands, Norway, France, and hopefully soon somewhere for margaritas. So it seemed fitting that the proposal finally happened on holiday, at midnight going into their tenth anniversary in Rhodes.
Neil surprised Nikki with the Disney Villain ring of her dreams while on a balcony with a glass of cheap and brilliant local wine. He managed to hide the ring for several days, and Nikki even resisted the urge to search his bags, so it was a genuine surprise.
They have been through a lot together over the last ten years and cannot wait to start the next chapter of their lives together as husband and wife and officially as dad and step-mum, finally.
The Wedding
They couldn’t decide between eloping and having a huge family wedding… so they’re doing both.
In May, they’ll be travelling to Norway for a small, intimate ceremony in Lom with just a handful of people. It’s a meaningful way to honour Nikki’s mum, Anne, and celebrate that side of the family in a place that holds so much significance.
But don’t worry, the main event is still to come! In August, they’ll be celebrating with everyone, with a beautiful ceremony full of even more glitz, glamour and love. They can’t wait to share it all with you.
